Suzuki Celerio Expert Review
The Celerio is a small city car produced by Suzuki Motors in its first variant launch in February 2014. Due to its compact structure and refined dynamics it gives strong competition to its rivals like Hyundai i10, Ford Figo, Chevrolet Beat, Honda Brio and Nissan Micra Active. After its successful debut in India, the company prepared to launch the vehicle globally after changing the suspension as per country demands and right/left hand drives. In UAE market, it is available in single variant packed in a small 1.0-litre engine.
Interior
If you yearn for a spacious cabin inside the hatchback, this car may not fit your needs. You may feel bumps sitting in the rear cabin, but front seat occupants sit inside with enough legroom available for them. Handy storage cabins are provided, wherein you can place the small things despite its compact structure. Rear seats can be folded down increasing the standard boot space count of 110-litres. Front electric windows and remote control door locks ease-out the access and acts as an additional safety aspect. Bored while on drive-ways? For this, Celerio offers you stereo system including radio, CD tuner, MP3 playback function, auxiliary input socket, antenna that offers decent sound output via 4 speakers and 2 tweeter system integrated inside.
Exterior
Efficiently made aerodynamic structure of Suzuki Celerio is a youthful, fresh and contemporary design. Its front facade starts-off with a slopping short bonnet that ends in large black grille placed at the end of the bumper. Sideways employs distinctively designed elliptical shaped headlamps that enhance its endearing look. Coming to the rear profile, three-lobed rear combination lamps are placed at the corners of its boot lid. In addition, rear wiper is provided to give a clear look to the driver in case it gets dirt/raindrops over it. The small size of the car proportioned in figures 3500mm x 1600mm x 1470mm (LxWxH) makes it easy to maneuver the car even in tighter spaces. The wheelbase for the same is measured at 2360mm. Standard 14-inch aluminium-alloy wheels comes fitted in the tyre size 155/65 R14.
Engine & Fuel Consumption
It is available in single variant packed in 1.0-litre petrol engine in-line 3-cylinder 12-valves that deliver a maximum power output of 67HP at 6000rpm along with the peak torque of 87Nm at 4500rpm. Mated with a 4-speed automatic transmission, this car can go from 0-100 kmph mark on the speedometer in 15.5 seconds, which is not a sparkling figure and this may disappoint you, but considering that this is an entry level car, these figures are acceptable at a large scale. Also you have a choice to go through five-speed manual transmission with gate-type shifter for active and personalized driving pattern. The top speed of the vehicle is 185kmph. Moreover, you will feel happy knowing about the fuel economy figures it delivers, covering 100 kms of distance engine sips fuel of 4.1-litres which is an adequate count for a sports variant.
Braking & Safety
This Suzuki Celerio comes outfitted in suspension system that makes urban driving enjoyable integrated with a McPherson Strut with Coil Spring front suspension with 3-Link Rigid Axle with Coil Spring rear suspension. This works in coordination with ventilated disc brakes fitted in front axle and drum, leading & trailing brakes in the rear. Alongside, Antilock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution and Brake assist prevents the vehicle from skidding and tops vehicle in required minimum distance in emergency cases. High-mount stop lamp, immobilizer, SRS dual front airbags, fog lamps are other safety aspects featured with this car.
Verdict
This compact car by Suzuki is worth practically good if you want a day-to-go run for urban city car. Rear seat may cramp your muscles if you are tall however. Overall, there is nothing to flashy about Suzuki Celerio it is a dedicated city commuter which does what it is meant to do and does it too efficiently.
